Carrum Downs husband rescues wife’s $100,000 Instant Scratch-Its win from the bin
A Carrum Downs woman’s bank account has been bolstered by $100,000 after her husband saved her top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket from the bin.
The $5 Golden Edition ticket was purchased at Carrum Downs Lotto, Shop 28, Carrum Downs Shopping Centre, 100 Hall Road, Carrum Downs.
“When I first scratched the ticket, I thought it was no good, and I was going to put it into the bin,” the winning woman laughed when speaking with us.
“My husband said to me, ‘let’s just have a look again’. He did have a look and he said to me, ‘you’ve won!’.
“I said, ‘oh sh**!’. I was very happy.
“We even popped to the newsagency to just double-check.
“I’m glad I didn’t throw away this ticket.
“I guess I’ll have to share the prize with my husband now.”
The Instant Scratch-Its aficionado shared she enjoyed playing a $5 Instant Scratch-Its ticket each week.
“I’ve been getting the odd prize here and there lately, but nothing like this,” she said.
“This prize is going to come in handy. We might get a better car and help our children out as well.
“We’ve had a bit of a difficult time lately, so hopefully, this is a sign of good things to come.”
Carrum Downs Lotto owner Simon Boctor said he was ecstatic to sell another Instant Scratch-Its top prize win, with the last one about four years ago.
“How absolutely awesome!” he said.
“We’ve sold four top prizes during the past 11 years, so it’s always good to add another one to the tally.
“Well done to our winner. I hope they enjoy it.
“I know our customers will be so happy for us and I’m sure they’ll be hoping they’re our next lucky customer.”
