Oxenford man eyes new wheels after $250,000 Instant jackpot
From a $500 win earlier this year to a $250,000 jackpot this week, a man from Oxenford says he feels like he’s been enjoying an Instant Scratch-its winning streak.
The man scratched one of the top prizes of $250,000 on a $10 $250,000 Jackpot Instant Scratch-Its ticket he bought from newsXpress Oxenford, Oxenford Village, Old Pacific Highway, Oxenford.
Speaking with a Golden Casket official today to claim his prize, the winner recounted the moment he revealed the coveted top prize.
“I bought this ticket myself – I’ve been buying Instant Scratch-Its over the years,” he said.
“I actually won $500 a few months ago, which I thought was good. With this one, I thought ‘s##t!’.
“I didn’t make a lot of noise when I scratched this prize! I was at home and I was trying to keep it together.
“My main thought was finding some place to put this valuable ticket until I could claim it. I was thinking ‘if the house burns down, where will I put it?’.”
The Gold Coast winner also revealed he planned to use some of his instant windfall to buy a new car.
“I’ve already started car shopping and picked one out,” he declared.
newsXpress Oxenford owner Phil Zizza said he was celebrating his outlet selling its first top-prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
“We’ve been here for three years and this is our first one. There’s a buzz in the air and everyone wants to be the next winner,” he said.
“We wish our winner all the very best with their win.”
Last financial year, there were 144 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $12 million.
It can happen in an instant. It could happen to you.
