A Newport husband has gifted his wife the best birthday present she’s ever received – an Instant Scratch-Its ticket that won a remarkable $25,000.

The top prize winning $2 Gold Frenzy Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Newport Newsagency, 359 Barrenjoey Road, Newport.

Sharing her excitement with us this morning, the New South Wales winner revealed she unwrapped the windfall on her birthday.

“It was a nice little surprise!” she cheered.

“My husband gifted me a bundle of Instant Scratch-Its in my birthday card – there were about 10.

“I was scratching away by myself later that day, and the symbol I needed came up.

“I was so shocked! It’s going to be hard for my husband to top this for next year’s birthday.

“We haven’t celebrated yet, but maybe we will save the celebrations until next year when we go on a nice trip!”

When asked how she planned to enjoy her bounty, the happy northern Sydney woman shared a couple of initial ideas.

“I sound a bit boring, but I just want to be sensible with the prize and make the most out of it. So I’ve paid off my mortgage and transferred a bit to my adult children!” she exclaimed.

“I’ll probably give $5,000 to a charity close to my heart as well.

“It’s truly life-enhancing.”

Newport Newsagency manager Nan Zhang said she was ecstatic to have sold a top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

“We’re decorating the new shop with balloons, and we’re telling every customer that comes in about the exciting news!” she said.

“Our customers are very excited and continue to congratulate our team – they’re all local, so it’s very nice to see.

“We’ve had many major lottery wins since we first opened, but we haven’t seen an Instant Scratch-Its top prize since 2016. We hope this is the start of a winning streak, and we can expect many more!
