Unopened birthday present yields Nunawading woman a $50,000 Instant Scratch-Its top prize
A Nunawading woman has just discovered she’d been $50,000 richer for over five months after finally scratching a top prize on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket she received for her birthday last year.
The thrilled woman scored one of the top prizes of $50,000 on a $4 Rubik’s Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
Sharing her excitement with us, the winner revealed how she came to hold the winning ticket.
“It was a birthday gift from my daughter!” she explained.
“She always sends my husband and me a whole pack of Instant Scratch-Its tickets for our birthdays.
“It was my birthday a few months ago now, and when I got them, I didn’t do anything with them.
“With everything happening with the lockdown and everything that happened last year, I completely forgot about them.
“When I scratched it, I couldn’t believe I had been $50,000 richer this whole time!”
When asked how she planned to spend her instant windfall, the generous woman thought of her beloved family first.
“I’m going to give each of my children some of the win,” she declared.
“I’m going to keep some for myself too and spoil myself with something, although I’m not sure yet.
“Perhaps a trip somewhere when we can!”
The winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Wahgunyah Newsagency, 24 Foord Street, Wahgunyah.
Wahgunyah Newsagency owner Craig Bromley said he was thrilled one of his customers had gifted such an excellent birthday present.
“It’s always good when you sell a top prize to someone but even better when it’s a present!” he exclaimed.
“We’ve sold a few first division one prizes and a couple of Instant Scratch-Its top prizes, but it’s been a while.
“My customers keep asking me when I am going to sell another one, and I kept telling them it would be my turn again soon.
“So I am stoked that we’ve done it!
“Congratulations to our winner! We wish her all the best with her prize!”
