A Riverhills woman is ready to upgrade her new house with a resort-style pool and backyard shed after winning one of the top prizes of $100,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

When we spoke to the delighted winner this morning to claim her prize, the woman admitted she’d slept with the ticket last night, to ensure she wouldn’t lose it.

“I found out yesterday! We checked the ticket about 60 million times! We raced straight down to the nearest newsagency to check it was a winning ticket,” she said.

“Scratching that ticket and realising I won the top prize was honestly amazing.

“I never thought I would win a top prize.

“I was so shocked and in total disbelief. I was hyperventilating!

“I haven’t stopped shaking since then. I was a nightmare to sleep with last night apparently!

“I had to sleep with my bag right beside my bed. I needed to make sure that ticket was close to me.

“I woke up a few times to make sure it was still beside me. I kept thinking ‘is this real?’

“I have told all my family apart from my mum – they are so happy for me.

“I want to tell my mum in person because I know she’ll cry. I balled my eyes out when I found out, and I haven’t stopped since! I am so emotional!”

When asked how she planned to spend her win, the ecstatic woman shared it would help her build her dream home.

“We are building a new house, so this means I’ll be able to get the pool I want! I also will get a shed too,” she explained.

“It means lots of upgrades to the new house and probably a new car too.

“We will be celebrating this weekend! We already celebrated with some champagne last night!”

The overjoyed Brisbane woman bought her winning $5 Instant Scratch-Its ticket at RBWH Newsagency and Gifts, Shop 1, Level 1, Ned Hanion Building, Herston.

RBWH Newsagency and Gifts team members Liz Beach and Liam Brosnan said the outlet was thrilled to have sold a top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

“We are very excited about it! We haven’t sold a major prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket in a while, so it was about time we sold one,” Liz said.

“We are so happy for the winners. They came in and told us today. They are such deserving winners.”

“It is great! We are really glad for them,” Liam added.

“They were very thankful, really stoked. It was great to see.”
