“I’ll be fishing all over the world” declares Deception Bay’s Oz Lotto winner
A Deception Bay man plans to wet a line at the world’s best fishing spots after waking up this morning to realise he’s over $2.1 million dollars richer, after reeling in division one in last night’s Oz Lotto draw.
The keen fisherman held the only division one winning entry nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1293, drawn Tuesday 27 November 2018. As well as winning the life-changing $2,127,748.02 division one prize, he also won division three 7 times, increasing his total prize to $2,146,633.67.
The unsuspecting winner only discovered his Oz Lotto haul after he woke up early this morning to check his ticket.
“I realised I had won at about five o’clock this morning when I got out of bed, I saw I had seven straight numbers but I had to double check,” he explained.
“It’s just unbelievable!
“Absolutely bloody fantastic, isn’t it?!”
The regular Oz Lotto player revealed he only decided yesterday to play a marked entry in last night’s draw.
“I realised it was Tuesday and I hadn’t put a ticket on yet,” he explained.
“I thought, I’ve got a spare $10.50, I’m going to put it on Oz Lotto and sure enough I bloody won!
“I’m shocked, I’m shaking right now.
“And I think I put an entry in for Gold Lotto tonight!”
Sharing his excitement with us this morning, he realised he had the freedom to retire early!
“I’m getting older, so why not?!” he declared.
“And I’ve got a tribe and a half of children and grandchildren to share the prize with!”
As the news sunk in, he also declared he’ll be heading on a holiday to celebrate his windfall.
“Anywhere in the world I can fish, that’s where you’ll find me,” he rejoiced.
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning marked entry from Deception Bay News, Shop 5, Deception Bay Shopping Centre, Cnr Bay Avenue and Deception Bay Road, Deception Bay.
Deception Bay News owner Mung Lam said the team is celebrating the exciting win in store.
“It’s very exciting, this is the first time we’ve sold a division one winning ticket since taking over the newsagency,” she explained.
“And we can’t wait to sell more!”
