No rest for Queanbeyan’s $5.5 million Oz Lotto winner as he returns to work after life-changing discovery
A Queanbeyan man’s day ended with a bang yesterday, discovering he won more than $5.5 million in Tuesday’s Oz Lotto draw.
The winning man held the only division one winning entry in Oz Lotto draw 1466, drawn Tuesday 22 March 2022. The division one winning entry scored $5,543,173.97.
Speaking with us moments after his monumental discovery, the emotional man admitted he was blown away by the revelation he was suddenly a multi-millionaire.
“Woohoo!” he yelled.
“I just need to take a breath. It’s been such an emotional day. I’ve laughed, cried, yelled, spoken to my family, who were just as excited as me. This is amazing!
“We all need this right now. When I found out, I was at work and had to leave the office and compose myself for a few minutes.
“I’m about to be debt-free for the first time in my adult life. My parents are about to be debt-free and I can buy a new car. This completely changes my life.
“You read about people who win big and think, ‘wow, that must be nice’, but you never expect it to happen to you.
“I’ve played the same numbers for 30 years and never won anything.”
The big winner admitted he wouldn’t stop working, but it felt like a heavyweight had been lifted from his shoulders.
“I’ll be back at work tomorrow, but the difference now is that I’m going to be able to set myself and my family up for life,” he laughed.
“It’ll be Chinese takeaway and a few beers to celebrate tonight, though!”
His winning marked 12-game entry was purchased at Queanbeyan City Agency, 168 Crawford st, Queanbeyan.
