“I’ve never played Oz Lotto before!”: Gladstone man claims beginners luck the catalyst for $15 million Oz Lotto win
A Gladstone man’s smoko took an incredible turn this morning after a colleague prompted him to check his Oz Lotto entry and he discovered he’d bagged a $15 million windfall.
The Queensland resident was one of two division one winning entries in Oz Lotto draw 1526 on 16 May 2023. He takes home $15 million.
“Stop it, brother! This is incredible, thank you!” he yelled when we confirmed his incredible prize.
“Oh, I think I might throw up. I need to sit down!
“I was just in the car on the way to get some smoko, and my mate told me someone in Gladstone had won division one in Oz Lotto.
“I thought, ‘oh, I had entry into that draw’.
“Next thing you know I’m on the phone to you! What a whirlwind morning.
“I’ve never even played Oz Lotto before! It’s my first time, so I think a bit of beginner’s luck might be at play here.
“What do I do now? I’ve got no idea what I’ll do yet!
“I’m struggling to process this mate! Oh my god, I’m a millionaire!”
The winning entry was purchased at newsXpress Kin Kora, Shop 27 Kin Kora Centre, Corner of Dawson Highway and Phillip Street, Gladstone.
newsXpress Kin Kora owner Ian Chapman said he and his team were celebrating another big win in Central Queensland.
“Customers are excited as well. They love to see that major prizes happen locally as well,” he said.
“We last sold a division one winning entry about three years ago and have sold seven division one wins since Lotto commenced in Queensland. This is the first Oz Lotto division one win we have sold.
“Our congratulations go to the winner and we hope that they use it wisely.”
