“You’re having me on?”: Rosebery mum struggles to get her head around her $11 million Oz Lotto win
A Rosebery mum has found herself suddenly contemplating a swift retirement, describing her unexpected $11 million Oz Lotto win as the “perfect distraction” during Sydney’s tough lockdown.
The Sydney woman held the only division one winning entry across Australia in Oz Lotto draw 1435, drawn Tuesday 17 August 2021, and took home the entire jackpot prize of $11,002,697.57.
It took quite some time for us to convince the overwhelmed woman that what she could see on her phone when she checked her ticket on The Lott app this morning was true.
“I have won $11 million?” she began to question.
“Oh, you’re joking? You’re having me on?
“I’ve won $11 million? That is crazy.
“Oh my god. This can’t be real!
“Thank you. Thank you so much.
“That’s bizarre. Are you sure? Oh my god.
“I’ve been asking for financial freedom, and I can’t believe it’s happened.
“That’s wonderful. So wonderful!
“Thank you so much.”
With $11 million about to hit her bank account, it didn’t take long for the New South Wales woman to start thinking about all the exciting things she’d be able to do with her win.
“I do like my job. Maybe I will keep working, maybe I won’t. I don’t know!” she laughed.
“I’ve always wanted my own home and to be able to provide for my family. I will certainly be able to do that now.
“A house is definitely at the very top of the wish list.
“Lockdown has been really hard for me and for so many people, so this will be the perfect distraction.
“Oh my god. I cannot believe this is happening.
“I’m probably going to resign very soon!”
Her life-changing entry was purchased at Rosebery North Newsagency, 68 Dalmeny Avenue, Rosebery.
Rosebery North Newsagency manager Min said he was thrilled to hear the winner had checked her ticket.
“It’s incredible to see one of our customers walk away with such a massive prize,” he said.
“It’s so exciting for us and our community during a really tough and uncertain time.
“It’s been a little while since we last sold a division one winning entry, so we couldn’t be happier!
“Congratulations to her!”
