“I feel so free now!”: Taringa woman answers phone to $40 million news
An emotional Taringa mum had been waiting by the phone tonight with an inkling she was going to be called with news she had won Powerball. Turns out, she was right and has pocketed the entire $40 million jackpot.
The Brisbane woman held the only division one winning entry across Australia in Powerball draw 1274, drawn Thursday 15 October 2020, scoring the division one prize of $40 million. The Queensland woman also won division two 19 times, boosting her total win to $40,532,533.90.
Immediately after tonight’s draw, we called the winner, who broke down into tears upon confirmation she was now a multi-millionaire.
“My heart is about to beat through my chest,” she cried.
“You have no idea what this means to me.
“It’s a dream come true.
“I am feeling so breathless! I think I might faint or throw up!
“This is insane.
“You wouldn’t believe it, but this morning I woke up with a weird feeling that I was going to win Powerball.
“I made sure I kept my phone on charge and that I would be ready to answer your phone call.
“I can’t believe this is happening!
“My mind is all over the place. I can’t stop shaking.
“I feel so free!
“I am going to go and wake up my family. I can’t wait to tell them!”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her prize, the elated woman said it couldn’t have come at a better time.
“It’s been such a tough time. This is a huge relief,” she admitted.
“I am going to get a house and I want to share it with my family.
“I will also help some of my friends that have done so much for me.
“I am going to retire too and then I will spend my time travelling around Australia, instead of working!
“What can’t I do?”
The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning PowerHit entry online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.
