Start packing! Gladstone region dad plans family holiday with $100,000 prize
A “big holiday” is now on the cards for a family from the Gladstone region after dad won one of the three $100,000 top prizes on a $5 Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Tannum Sands Newsagency, Shop 8, Corner Garnet Street and Hampton Drive, Tannum Sands.
“I couldn’t believe it when I scratched all 10 words – I still can’t!” the Central Queensland man explained to a Golden Casket official while claiming his prize today.
“I was really excited at the start. Then I started doubting it.
“I went into the newsagent to claim the prize and they told me it was too big for them to process!
“It was pretty nerve-wracking sending the ticket in the post. It’s one valuable piece of cardboard!”
While the winner wishes to remain anonymous, he did share that the win couldn’t have come at better time.
“We’ve had a pretty rough time this past year.
“This will mean I can pay off the credit card and take our family on a long-overdue holiday.”
Tannum Sands Newsagency owner Peggy Wood said her outlet was buzzing with excitement.
“Selling a top prize winning ticket gives us such a buzz – it’s a great feeling!” she said.
“It’s even more exciting for our customer though!”
Last financial year, there were 144 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $12 million.
It can happen in an instant. It could happen to you.
