How local The Lott outlets are stepping up to keep kids safe
Our community support stems far and wide, with The Lott retailers playing an active role in supporting partners close to our heart.
This year, we continued our commitment to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation (DMF) by donating an additional $450,000 from Golden Casket unclaimed prize money, contributing to a total of $1.9 million over the last six years.
Our retailers also stepped up, joining the community in solidarity for Day for Daniel, by dressing their stores and their teams in red and encouraging their staff and customers to learn about child safety through the Foundation’s free resources. Many also made donations, helping to further the Foundation’s mission.
Long time supporter of the Foundation and manager at Nextra Chermside, Shannon Hickey said he is grateful for the role DMF can play in helping keep kids safe.
“Day for Daniel is a special event for us at Nextra Chermside, which we’ve been supporting for almost a decade,” he said.
“I’ve always admired the strength of Bruce and Denise Morcombe and the vital work of their foundation.
“We strive to raise awareness by promoting the message of Recognise, React, and Report.
“We know that the child safety lessons and resources provided by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation are essential in the ongoing efforts to protect children and educate the community.
“At The Lott, we have a powerful network, and our stores are often seen as community hubs, which gives us a unique opportunity to spread these important messages far and wide.
“That’s why we’re eager to help raise awareness and support the Foundation’s mission, ensuring these vital messages reach as many people as possible.”
The Lott’s Retail Operations Consultant, Ashleigh Spies, revealed this year’s event set a new record for retailer participation.
“Our retailers are deeply committed to supporting our community, and Day for Daniel is just one example of that,” Ashleigh said.
“This year, we saw a record number of stores participate in the event and we’re excited to see even more get involved in the future.
“Day for Daniel is such an important initiative, raising awareness about child safety, protection, and harm prevention in Australia.
“Our retailers play a key role in spreading that message, and we’re incredibly proud to see them stepping up and getting involved.”
The success of Day for Daniel highlights the collective impact we can have when we come together as a community to support meaningful causes. We’re honoured to continue this partnership and support the Foundation’s vital work keeping Australian children safe.
