Cancelled holiday leads to Morphett Vale woman’s $1 million Monday X Lotto win
A Morphett Vale woman has revealed that despite being disappointed her European holiday was cancelled due to the pandemic, she is more than happy with a consolation prize in the form of a $1 million Monday X Lotto win.
The thrilled winner held one of the two division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw 4010, drawn Monday 21 September 2020 and takes home a division one prize of $1 million.
Sharing her joy with us this morning, the Morphett Vale player recounted how she discovered the life-changing win.
“Thank you! I can’t believe it! Oh my gosh! It’s just amazing!” she exclaimed.
“You don’t think it will ever happen to you. It’s just ridiculous! I’m still in shock. It just feels surreal.
“I was sitting next to my hubby last night while he was watching the footy and I saw the winning numbers come up on the screen.
“I thought to myself ‘a few of those look familiar’ so I went to check my ticket.
“I saw that I had all of the winning numbers and I was screaming out to my husband ‘I’m a millionaire! I’ve just won $1 million!’.
“He thought I was just joking and got annoyed I was interrupting him watching the football.
“When I showed him we’d won he didn’t mind the interruption at all!
“We cracked open a bottle of champagne to celebrate!”
The thrilled woman revealed that she was close to not having purchased the winning ticket as she was initially supposed to be travelling Europe on a long-awaited holiday.
“We’d actually booked a trip to Europe, and we were supposed to be there now,” she explained.
“But we had to cancel it due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s strange to think that if we had been in Europe, I wouldn’t have purchased this ticket and won $1 million.
“It’s safe to say when we do get to go to Europe we’ll be going business class for sure!”
The happy winner also confessed she had a few other plans for her million-dollar windfall.
“We’ve just got a few things to fix up around the house, and we’d love to help our family out,” she explained.
“I’m still working, but I might look to retire soon. You never really know what’s ahead. It will be handy to have this as a nest egg.
“I’m just over-the-moon I’ll have the option to retire and take some time to myself.”
The regular player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her entry at Campbell’s Newsagency Morphett Vale, Shops 14 & 15, Southgate Plaza, Sherrifs Road, Morphett Vale.
