“It’s a shock to the system!”: Lismore local floored by million-dollar Lotto surprise
A Lismore man has confessed he is “buzzing” after the shock discovery he’s now a millionaire from a Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw earlier this week.
The Northern Rivers player held one of the four division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4264 on Monday 27 February 2023 and took home $1 million.
The winning entry was unregistered, which meant we had no way to contact the winner to break the exciting news. Instead, they were eagerly waiting for the ticketholder to come forward to claim their prize.
“Oh mate! Buzzing!” the winning man exclaimed when his prize was confirmed.
“Yeeha!!
“I was just checking my ticket in the car, and I got a feeling I might have won this. Then I just marked all the numbers off.
“These are the numbers I’ve been using for years. There’s some birthdates and other numbers I’ve been playing for a very long time.
“It’s a shock to the system, I can tell you. My knees are shaking.
“I’ve always said to people I’d win one day. I just hoped I wouldn’t be too old to enjoy it. Well, I’m not too old to enjoy it, that’s for sure!
“I’ll still keep working, but this will set my family up for the future.”
His winning entry was purchased at Lismore Central Newspro, Shop T10 ,Lismore Central Shopping Centre, 44 Carrington Street, Lismore.
Lismore Central Newspro manager Nicole Renshaw said the winning news was a breath of fresh air for the community, which was heavily impacted by flooding a year ago.
“It’s really good news! Coincidentally it was won on Monday, which marks 12 months since the Lismore floods,” she said.
“We’ve had quite a few people come in to check their Monday & Wednesday Lotto tickets, hoping they were the mystery winner we were looking for.
“Congratulations to our winner and we wish them all the very best with their prize.”
