Gold Coast woman startles husband with $800,000 Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto win
A Gold Coast woman had no regret waking her husband up in a frenzy to reveal their life-enhancing $800,000 division one win in last night’s Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto windfall.
The Queenslanders held one of the five division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4307, drawn Wednesday 26 July 2023 and took home $800,000.00.
“I feel on top of the world – I can’t believe it!” she laughed when we relayed her division one win this morning.
“I checked my Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto entry straight after the draw last night. My husband and I always quick to check the results.
“Initially, I thought we’d won $640. I like to write all the numbers down one by one, and the number 15 was a bit separated, so I thought it was the number one and five.
“I started to get excited because I saw we had five numbers and then I realised, ‘Oh my god! We actually have number 15! We’ve won division one!’.
My husband went to bed early because he was really tired, and I had to wake him up! It was probably the best wake up he’s ever had.
“We normally don’t win anything, so we’re on cloud nine.
“We always purchase a lottery ticket when we go on a walk in the morning. We didn’t go on our normal walk this morning because we were in too much shock!
“We will have to organise a family lunch in Brisbane to celebrate!”
The jubilant woman has always given back to charities and organisations that mean the most to her, and she shared that she couldn’t wait to do it all over again with her prize.
“We will definitely help our children with the prize, as they’ve got mortgages up to their eyebrows. That’s our main priority,” she shared.
“We will also give back to organisations that have been doing it tough!”
Their 24-game QuickPick was purchased at newsXpress Surfers Paradise, Shop 43 Chevron Renaissance Shopping Centre, 3240 Surfers Paradise Boulevard, Surfers Paradise.
newsXpress Surfers Paradise owners Graeme and Averill Hunt said they were overjoyed to have sold their third division one winning entry since owning the newsagency.
“Isn’t it exciting news that we’ve sold another division one winning entry? We’ve absolutely stoked to have helped change the lives of another local customer,” he said.
“It’s already such an exciting day today with $60 million up for grabs in Powerball and now we’re celebrating selling a division one winning entry with our customers.
“Our first division one winning entry was sold in 2017 and then our second was in 2019. We were convinced that we were long overdue as it seemed to be every two years.
“There’s no doubt this is the start of a winning streak for us once again, and we send a big congratulations to our winner and their family. Thanks for making us a lucky store again!”
