While the winner of Thursday night’s entire $55 million Powerball jackpot prize has yet to claim their prize, Tatts can reveal that the winning unregistered entry was sold at Scole Lotto & News in the Melbourne suburb of Brunswick.

The winning entry was unregistered so the identity of the new multi-millionaire remains a mystery.

The Melbourne entry was the only winning entry in Thursday night’s Powerball draw 1130 on Thursday 11 January 2018, which offered a $55 million jackpot – the highest Australian lottery jackpot in 53 weeks.Thursday night’s Powerball prize was Australia’s third largest lottery jackpot win by a single entry.

Tatts is urging anyone who purchased their unregistered Powerball entry from Scole Lotto & News, Shop 6, 90-106 Sydney Road, Brunswick, to check their ticket as soon as possible.

Melbourne’s northern suburbs are no stranger to Powerball wins.  In November last year, a semi-retired couple from Mill Park had their lives changed forever when they won a $6 million division one Powerball Prize.

Tatts spokesperson Bronnie Spencer said she hoped Melbourne’s newest multi-millionaire checked their ticket soon so they could discover the life-changing news.

“Imagine how different your weekend plans would be knowing you were now $55 million richer!” she said.

“Would you be partying on your new yacht, booking some first class flights overseas or writing your resignation letter?

“If you discover you’re holding the unregistered division one winning entry, hold on tight to that ticket and phone 131 868 as soon as possible so that we can start the prize claim process!” Ms Spencer advised.

Sam Misiano, owner of Scole Lotto & News, said he was over-the-moon to have sold the winning entry from his outlet.

“Sensational! Oh my god! It’s just amazing!” he exclaimed.

“I’m wrapt – can you imagine how the customer feels?

“It’s just a mind blowing amount, I’m so happy for them whoever they are.

“We’ve been here three years and have been waiting and waiting as we haven’t sold a large prize and bang! Drought is broken – and how!”

Ms Spencer said Powerball winners become overnight multi-millionaires and could suddenly do whatever their hearts’ desired.

“After paying off the mortgage and helping family and friends, Powerball division one winners often choose to work less, travel the world, and help their community,” she said.

“Who knows just how the Melbourne winner will use their prize.  We can’t wait to find out!

“The last time we saw Powerball reach the dizzy heights of $55 million was in January last year.  Back then, Powerball’s entire $55 million division one prize was won by one Queensland entry – a private syndicate of 21 Queensland Government employees.

“These winners told us they wanted to travel, retire early and one said they even wanted to get their teeth fixed!  Armed with a share of the massive Powerball prize, anything is possible!”

Tatts reminds players of the importance of registering their tickets to a Tatts Card so all of their prizes are secure and they can be contacted directly with the good news of a big win.

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1130 on Thursday 11 January 2018 were 32, 7, 5, 34, 38 and 11, while the all-important Powerball number was 12.

Across Australia there were only one winning entry in Powerball draw 1130.

Last financial year, 18 Powerball division one winning entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions won more than $273 million.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 235 so far this financial year, including 84 won by Tatts customers.
