A Kingaroy dad is ready to put his feet up and enjoy an early retirement after finishing his most memorable Father’s Day more than $2.8 million richer. 

The regional Queensland resident held one of the seven division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto Superdraw 3977 on Saturday 31 August 2019, with each entry taking home a division one prize of $2,857,142.86. 

Sharing his excitement with us this morning, the man relived the heart-stopping moment. 

“It was a bit of a shock to the system,” he laughed. 

“I was at a Father’s Day barbeque on Sunday night and I thought to myself ‘I better check my Gold Lotto ticket from last night’. 

“Then I jumped onto my online account and saw six red numbers. 

“My wife and I checked it again and again and again and sure enough, it was right! 

“It couldn’t have come at a better time. We’ve had a rough start to the year.” 

When asked how he planned to use his life-changing windfall, the hardworking man had a few modest ideas. 

“This is will just make life so much easier,” he said.

“I’m going to retire soon, that’s for sure. I’ll be able to finally put my feet up and spend plenty more time with my kids. 

“The house also needs a new fence and roof. 

“And my wife really wants to go overseas, so you never know, maybe we’ll be doing that!”
