An Eden man will soon have more than one reason to be walking on air, with plans to buy a new pair of sandals to celebrate his division one win from the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.
 
The self-confessed shoe hater held one of the six division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Lotto draw 3847 on Saturday 2 June 2018. Each entry won a division one prize of $659,386.58.
 
Speaking to a NSW Lotteries official this morning, the happy man recounted the moment he discovered his win.
 
“I came down to the newsagency on Sunday morning to get a copy of the results. I then went home to mark my numbers off my ticket,” he explained.
 
“At first I thought ‘Oh, I’ve got two supps and a number, I’ve won $15! You beauty!’. But then I kept going through marking numbers and thought ‘hang on, I’ve got the lot!’.
 
“I was sitting down at the time – just as well!
 
“Good on you mate! Terrific isn’t it?
 
“Normally I register my tickets, but once in a blue moon I forget to register them – like this one. Just as well I checked this ticket.”
 
When asked what he might do with his Saturday Lotto windfall of almost $660,000, the winner was fast on his feet to reply.
 
“I’ve got no idea. I might buy a pair of sandals to start with, the others are a bit shoddy,” he laughed.

 
“I hate shoes, I like sandals. Genuine leather ones this time, not the artificial stuff this time.”


 The regular player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his 36-game QuickPick entry at Eden Newsagency, 138 Imlay Street, Eden.
 
Eden Newsagency owner Lynn Slater said she was thrilled the outlet had sold its first division one winning entry.
 
“It’s great news for the area to have a Lotto division one win,” she said.
 
“It was good to see someone win who is a regular customer. We wish him all the very best with his prize.”
 
The six winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 3847 on Saturday 2 June 2018 were 19, 24, 17, 7, 14 and 37.  The supplementary numbers were 2 and 23.
 
Across Australia there were six division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 3847 – two each from Victoria and New South Wales, and one each from Queensland and South Australia.
 
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 169 so far this calendar year, including 41 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
