Coffee run leads to $1 million TattsLotto discovery for Rosebud man!
A daily caffeine hit has never been so rewarding with a Rosebud man on his morning coffee run realising the TattsLotto ticket in his wallet had made him a millionaire more than a week ago.
The Melbourne player held one of the 10 division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4223 on Saturday 8 January 2022. Each division one winning entry scored $1 million.
“I had no idea I’d won until yesterday,” he explained when speaking with us.
“I was grabbing a coffee and as I went to pay, I saw some old lottery tickets in my wallet and so I ducked into the newsagency to check them.
“The guy at the counter started acting really strange when he scanned my ticket. He got all flustered and was telling me to come out the back because he needed to talk to me.
“Then a customer came in and he had to serve them, so I was just standing out the front confused. I didn’t know what was going on.
“As I was waiting, I looked up at the posters behind the counter and saw they’d recently sold a division one winning ticket. That’s when I knew something was up.
“I instantly felt so nervous! I had this weird feeling that I was the winner.
“Once the customer was gone, the employee turned to me with the biggest smile on his face and told me that I’d won division one. It was so weird!
“I just kept repeating,
‘It’s fine, it’s fine!’. I honestly felt like I could’ve passed out from the excitement.
“I’m still struggling to comprehend the news. It’s surreal! One million dollars!?
“I definitely want to help my kids. Travel is really important to me, so there will be a few holidays as well.
“I’d like to invest some to see the prize grow and I’ll pay off some bills I have.
“I’ve been really stressed with work, so it’ll be nice to take it easy for a bit.”
The life-changing entry was purchased at Smokey's Frankston House Lotto, 8 Thompson Street, Frankston.
Smokey's Frankston House Lotto owners Rob and Carla Macaro said their entire team was celebrating the massive win.
“We’ve been running this shop for over 20 years, and we love it when any of our customers win a big prize, especially during these challenging times,” Rob said.
“It’s amazing to know one of our customers has won. It’s the positive news our community needs!
“To our lucky customer, congratulations. We’re so happy for you! What a great way to start the year,” Carla added.
“It’s fantastic news and we can’t wait for our next big win.”
