“I’m the happiest person in Australia today!”: Glenelg man walking on air after $2.5 million Saturday X Lotto win
A Glenelg man has started the week extra cheerful, embracing his new multi-millionaire status after scoring more than $2.5 million in the weekend’s Saturday X Lotto draw.
The Adelaide resident held one of the two division one winning entries nationally in Saturday X Lotto draw, drawn Saturday 8 February 2025. Both division one winning entries can look forward to $2,599,857.54 each.
“I’m the happiest person in Australia today!” the gleeful winner cheered.
“It’s too unreal. Even saying $2.5 million. It just sounds ridiculous. I can’t believe it!
“I received the email saying I’d won a major prize. I thought it might’ve been $1,000 or so, but then I checked the winning numbers, and I had all six.
“I checked again three times and then I checked my ticket on the website.
“I was jumping on the inside, but I tried to remain calm. I wanted to ensure it was true before getting too excited and shouting it to everyone.
“I had breakfast and a shower like usual because I thought I was going mad. Then I headed to the newsagency and checked my ticket again.
“The team was so excited for me. They had big grins. They are so thrilled because I buy a ticket from them every Saturday and I’ve done so for years.”
When asked how he planned to use his newfound fortune, the newly-made multi-millionaire said he looked forward to setting himself up for the future.
“I’ll put the most of it in my super,” he shared.
“I’m going to take some good time to think about it and see a financial advisor.
“I don’t own a house so that’s something I’ll look to do down the track as well.
“I’d love to help my family. Funnily enough, they’ve all said, ‘Don’t even think about it!’.”
His winning 25-game QuickPick entry was purchased from Kylie Brown's Newsagency, Shop 17 / Bayside Village Shopping Cent, Cnr Jetty & Brighton Road, Glenelg.

The winning numbers in Saturday X Lotto draw 4545 on 8 February 2025 were 42, 6, 15, 35, 40 and 25, while the supplementary numbers were 38 and 20.
