Hay woman left stunned and sleepless over $1.4 million Saturday Lotto win
A Hay mother admitted she was awake most of the night and only had two hours sleep after the revelation of her $1.4 million win in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.
The Riverina resident held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 4287, drawn Saturday 20 August and takes home a total prize of $1,413,575.51.
Speaking with us this morning, the overjoyed woman relayed how the excitement unfolded.
“It’s mind-boggling!” she giggled.
“I was staying at a family member’s place on Saturday night, and I decided to check the winning numbers on The Lott website.
“I told my brother and sister-in-law to come over and double check my entry and they said to me, ‘You’ve won it!’
“I couldn’t believe it. I was dumbfounded the whole night!
“In fact, I couldn’t sleep at all. I slept for two hours max.
“Thankfully on Sunday, I had about eight hours sleep.
“It’s a lovely feeling to have finally won division one. I’ve played Saturday Lotto sporadically for many years.
“I bought a bottle of bubbly to celebrate with others eventually.
“I love you! You’re the bearer of good news.”
When asked how she planned to spend her newfound wealth, the winning woman had two things in mind.
“I’m going to help my children big time. I’ve spoken to one of them already and said, ‘You and I will share it together!’,” she said.
“I’ll also look at re-doing some things in the house – things I’ve wanted to do for a while.”
Her winning 36-game QuickPick was purchased at Westend Plaza Lotto, Shop16a Centro Albury, 487 Kiewa Street, Albury.
The Westend Plaza Lotto team said the division one winning entry is wonderful news for the community and they wished their winner a big congratulations.
