“I’m floating now!”: Kempsey man buoyed by $5 million Saturday Lotto windfall
Moments before a Kempsey man was about to check his Saturday Lotto ticket yesterday, he answered a call from us confirming his entry had scored him $5 million.
The Mid North Coast resident held one of the four division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Lotto draw 4285 on Saturday 13 August 2022. Each division one winning entry pocketed a $5 million prize.
“Oh, man! I could hug you!” the man exclaimed when his new multi-millionaire status was confirmed.
“You won’t believe what I was about to do. I was going to get myself a drink, sit down, and check my Lotto ticket.
“I can’t believe I’ve pulled it off! Every time there’s a big draw, I grab a ticket and use family birthdates and special numbers.
“I’m over the moon!
“I can pay the house off! It’s terrific. I also need a new car as my current one is past its used-by date.
“I’d love to take the family on holiday too – somewhere like Greece. We love Greek food. I’ll come back looking like a puffer fish I’ll eat so much!
“I’m floating now. I’m having a hot air balloon ride in my mind!
“You’ve made my weekend!”
The winner’s marked 18-game entry was purchased at Chaddies Newsagent & Store, Shop 2, 1-3 Rudder Street, Kempsey.
Chaddies Newsagency & Store owner Gem Fuller said she had to hold back tears when she initially found out her store had sold a division one winning entry.
“From being ecstatic to being shocked, it was a flood of emotions! I was sitting in the car with my five children, and I was close to bursting out into tears when I found out,” she said.
“I’ve only owned Chaddies Newsagency & Store for such a small amount of time, and we’ve already managed to sell our first division one winning entry for the store!
“We will be doing some food and beverage giveaways with lotteries. Our team are currently busy making our store look beautiful to celebrate this momentous occasion.
“All of our customers are buzzed with happiness and excitement. They’re all asking who the lucky winner is and some are buying tickets for upcoming days, hoping they’ll be next!
“From the entire Chaddies team, we wish the biggest congratulations to our winner, and we hope the division one win changes their lives! This is a win for us all!”
