A Maryborough man says he had the perfect night’s sleep after checking the winning numbers for the weekend’s TattsLotto draw in the paper and realising he won division one.

The stunned winner held one of the 12 division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4051, drawn Saturday 16 May 2020. Each entry took home a division one prize of $410,606.71.

Officials from the Lott had been searching for the winner since the draw, although his entry was registered to a Tatts Card, his contact details were out of date.

This afternoon, we spoke to the winner, who confessed he was still reeling from his late-night lottery discovery.

“I found out last night. It was late and I was just relaxing, reading the paper, and I checked the Lotto numbers,” he explained.

“The numbers I use are marked numbers, they’re birthdays, so I knew straight away that they were my numbers.

“I was happy, very happy!

“It was a nice surprise. Winning anything is good, but this is great.

“We called the kids and told them straight away. Everyone was very excited.

“I couldn’t celebrate because I had to work today, so I just went to bed. I had no problem sleeping, I actually had a very nice sleep, knowing I had won the money.”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his windfall, the thrilled winner thought of his family first.

“I am not sure what I will do with my prize. I really need to think,” he shared.

“I will definitely look after the kids and I might take some time off to do something to enjoy myself.

“I am sure we will find some way to spoil ourselves!”

The winning System 7 entry was purchased at Maryborough News & Lotto, 192 High Street, Maryborough.

Maryborough News & Lotto manager Sue Wright said she couldn’t be happier for her winning customer.

“We were ecstatic when we found out. It’s amazing,” she said.

“It is so great the division one prize was shared by 12 people, I can imagine they were all thrilled when they found out.

“We wish our winner all the very best and hope after restrictions lift some more, they can do something nice to celebrate, go on a holiday, and really enjoy their win.

“It’s trying times for everyone at the moment, so it’s come at a great time for them.

“This is our 37th major prize win here at the outlet. We haven’t had one in three years, so we have been patiently waiting.

“Hopefully this is a start winning streak.”
