Maribyrnong woman discovers $1.09 million division one win over Macca’s coffee
A Maribyrnong woman’s Sunday morning routine was interrupted yesterday when she discovered the life-changing news she was now a millionaire, over a coffee at McDonalds.
The Melbourne woman held one of the four division one winning entries nationally from the weekend’s TattsLotto draw 4029, drawn Saturday 29 February 2020. Each entry takes home a division one prize worth $1,095,232.37.
Sharing her excitement with an official from the Lott, the overjoyed woman recounted how she discovered the news.
“Oh my god! I couldn’t believe it when I realised I had won!” she exclaimed.
“I found out on Sunday morning. We don’t get a chance to watch the draw on Saturday nights so I always make sure I check it the next morning.
“We have a weekly routine of going to McDonald’s for a coffee while we read the paper. I opened the paper and checked the results and my mind was blown.
“I said to my husband ‘I think I’ve made a mistake!’. I just couldn’t believe it.
“We went straight into the outlet to check the ticket and confirm the win.”
When asked how she planned to enjoy the windfall, the loving mum revealed it was her beloved family she thought of first.
“I’ll definitely share it with the kids! I want to help them out,” she declared.
“We’d love to take a holiday somewhere. I would love to go to Europe but there are also plenty of places in Australia I’d like to visit too.
“We’ll probably look at upgrading where we live.
“It hasn’t really sunk, in yet that we’ve won over one million dollars!”
The thrilled winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her 24-game QuickPick entry at Highpoint News & Tatts, Shop 2080 Highpoint Shopping Centre, 200 Rosamond Road, Maribyrnong.
Highpoint News & Tatts owner Rajnish Parbhakar said he was thrilled his outlet had marked a major milestone.
“It is the first division one winning entry we’ve sold! It’s so exciting!” he exclaimed.
“I’m so thrilled that it went to a regular customer to the store.
“When her and her husband came in to see me it was great to be able to confirm the news with them in person.
“We’ve put posters up in store to let all of our customers know we’ve sold a big one.
“Congratulations to our winner! We wish her all the best with her prize!”
