Celebrations are kicking off on the Gold Coast, with a Currumbin man and a Tallebudgera retiree emerging as division one winners in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw. 

The Gold Coast residents held two of the 14 division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4165, drawn Saturday 19 June 2021.

Each division one winning entry took home $1,428,571.43. 

Currumbin man’s Monday morning interrupted by million-dollar news 

When we contacted the Currumbin man this morning to break the life-changing news, he was settling in for a day of work and had no idea about his good fortune. 

“Oh, thank you!” he exclaimed. 

“I honestly can’t quite believe it to be honest. 

“I am over the moon, over the moon! 

“It feels very strange. I’ve only ever won $40. I can’t believe this. 

“I’ll be buying myself a new ute to start with. Then we will be doing a lot of work to the house. Maybe we’ll even put in a pool! 

“If I could go overseas, I would do that too. 

“I am quite overwhelmed. This is amazing!” 

He purchased his life-changing entry online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries. 

Tallebudgera man struggling to imagine life as a millionaire 

Just down the road, a Tallebudgera man was still struggling to get his head around his new millionaire status after checking his entry early yesterday morning. 

“Thank you very much!” he laughed. 

“It feels so good. It’s honestly a bit surreal. I’m still trying to absorb the news. 

“I checked the ticket on Sunday morning. I couldn’t believe it, so I woke my wife up to double-check it for me. 

“We were both stunned. It will certainly go towards our retirement fund. 

“We will really enjoy it!” 

The Tallebudgera local picked up his division one prize at Spar Express Tallebudgera, 7 Trees Road, Tallebudgera. Spar Express Tallebudgera store manager Shaun Jenkins said he was celebrating the win with the entire community. 

“This is the first division one winning entry we’ve sold,” he said. 

“We are so happy that this has finally happened at our store and in our community. 

“We would like to say a massive congratulations to the winner, may they really enjoy their prize!”
