A Granville man has called in sick to work today so he can stay home and spend the day processing the fact he’s almost $1 million richer after taking home division one in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.

The Sydney player held one of the seven division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 4109, drawn Saturday 5 December 2020. Each entry takes home a division one prize of $906,269.30.

Confirming his life-changing win with us this morning, the man revealed he was still in a state of shock after discovering the news yesterday.

“Thank you,” he laughed.

“Oh my god.

“I checked my ticket on Sunday morning and just keep checking it over and over again. I wasn’t sure if it was real!

“I didn’t want to go to sleep last night in case I woke up and it wasn’t real!
“Things like this don’t happen to people like me.

“I still haven’t processed it yet. I just keep thinking it can’t be real.

“It’s absolutely awesome.

“I called in sick to work today just so I could let the news sink in!”

With almost one million dollars about to land in his bank account, the Sydney winner said his winning grin was about to get bigger and brighter.

“I know I do need to get some dental work done!” he laughed.

“That will be one of the first things.

“I haven’t even really thought about how I’m going to spend it or what I’m going to do.

“I’ll definitely sit on it for now and really think about it.

“This is life-changing, it really is.

“I will keep working for now but down the track I am sure I will be able to retire a lot earlier than I’d planned!”

The life-changing ticket was purchased at Holroyd Newsagency, 370 Guildford Road, Guildford.

Holroyd Newsagency owner Sophie Ly said she was overwhelmed with excitement for her winner.

“This customer has been coming to us for such a long time, so we are so happy for him,” she said.

“This is the first division one winning ticket we’ve sold for a little while and we certainly hope it’s the beginning of many more.

“Congratulations to our winner!”
