A Sarina man says he’s gone numb and can’t stop his hands from shaking after he picked up the phone to the news he’s kicked off the week a Monday Gold Lotto millionaire.

The north Queenslander held one of two division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 3970, drawn Monday 4 May 2020, and takes home a division one prize of $1 million.

This morning we contacted the oblivious winner to break the life-changing news.

“Are you kidding?” he questioned.

“Is this a joke? Oh wow. This just changes our life massively.

“I am numb. Oh my god.

“There’s been a bit of drama lately, I lost my job with the coronavirus pandemic and my wife has had to take a pay cut.

“Wow. Just wow. I’m shaking so much. Everything is beginning to align.

“I’ve been playing these numbers for six years, some are birthdays, ages, that kind of thing. I had a feeling that they would have to be drawn one day.

“Wow I am blown away! I am absolutely blown away.”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his million-dollar win, the Mackay man said he was looking forward to the feeling of financial freedom.

“Well we will certainly pay off the mortgage to begin with. Never having to worry about making a mortgage payment will be incredible. I can’t imagine what that will feel like,” he explained.

“We will pay some other bills and then it will just be amazing knowing I can take some time to find a job I actually enjoy and not have to rush back to work.

“It’s awesome! Wow. I am in shock. The timing is just impeccable.

“This will change our life in a huge way.”

The happy man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning 18-game marked entry at newsXpress Sarina, Shop 5, Sarina Beach Road Shopping Centre, 13 Sarina Beach Road, Sarina.

newsXpress Sarina owner Mark Petersen said he was thrilled for his local customer.

“People in the community are just so happy to hear this exciting news,” he said.

“We’ve been doing this for a long time and it’s always so great for see these huge prizes go to locals.

“Congratulations to our latest winner!”
