A Broken Hill miner has declared there will be no more night shift after this morning discovering he’s a millionaire from winning division one in last night’s Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw.

The New South Wales player held one of the three division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3873, drawn Wednesday 29 May 2019.

He takes home the division one prize of $1,000,000.The man was just sitting down to check his tickets after a night shift when we contacted him this morning to break the news.

“You beauty! My wife is chucking a fit over here” he laughed.

“I was just sitting down to check my tickets actually!

“On my way home from work I went in to the store put on a ticket for tonight and when I scanned my players card they told me I’d won a prize over $1,000.

“I thought I’d better get home and check my tickets but I’ve only just got home after night shift.

“I work in the mines here in Broken Hill and I’ve been working there for about 43 years.

“I reckon I’ll be giving up work now!”

The regular player also revealed he had been playing the same marked numbers for years.

“I’ve been playing Lotto for about 40 years I reckon,” he said.

“I have been playing those numbers for a long time. They are birthdays and other speical dates.

“The most they have ever won me is $1,900 so this is a bit better than that!”

When asked how it felt to know he was now a millionaire, the man confessed he felt like he was dreaming.

“It’s great! I don’t know what to say. I think I’m still half asleep and dreaming all of this!” he joked.

“I won’t be doing much to celebrate because I’ve just started night shift again. I think I’ll just try to go to sleep.

“Bet I won’t be able to sleep now!”

The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry at South Newsagency, 170 Patton Street, Broken Hill.

South Newsagency owner Christos Niarros said he was thrilled his outlet had helped to change one of his customers’ lives.

“How cool is that?” he exclaimed.“We’ve been here for about 17 years and the last major prize we sold was 15 years ago. It’s nice to get the monkey off our back and break the drought.

“It’s fantastic to hear a local to the area has won and a regular customer too.

“Besides winning the lottery yourself, there is no better feeling than knowing you’ve helped changed someones life for the better.

“We wish him all the best with his prize!”
