Cleveland father and son spend two weeks with no idea they’d won $1 million
Two weeks after the draw, a father and son duo from Cleveland have finally checked their Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto ticket and realised they’ve spent the past fortnight unaware of their $1 million prize.
The Redland City residents held the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday and Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4063, drawn Wednesday 24 March 2021.
They take home a division one prize of $1 million.
Confirming their win with us this afternoon, the adult son said he couldn’t quite believe they’d unknowingly been $1 million richer for weeks.
“My dad usually plays lottery games and I sometimes chip in,” he explained.
“Dad got the ticket for both of us and after the draw he thought we’d won some kind of prize.
“But he’d forgotten to check the ticket properly until just now!
“We tapped in the ticket number online and we couldn’t believe it.
“A division one prize was right there. All we could say was ‘wow’.
“I think we were both in shock, we were speechless.”
When asked how he thought the pair might enjoy their million-dollar prize, the son explained they would be investing in their futures.
“We’re going to buy a house together,” he declared.
“This will help us so much, especially for my future. It’s really going to set me up.”
The division one winning entry was purchased at Nextra Newsagency Cleveland, Shop 42 Stockland Cleveland, 91 Middle Street, Cleveland.
Nextra Newsagency Cleveland manager Jenny Adam said she was happy to hear the division one prize had been claimed.
“It was so exciting when they came and told us they were the winners we’d be searching for,” she said.
“It’s so nice to see this prize go to our local customers.
“We’ve certainly been on a bit of a winning streak. We sold a division one winning entry late last year.
“All the best to our latest winners. We hope they really enjoy their prize.”
