Logan couple holidaying in Cairns pick up $1 million Gold Lotto ticket
A Logan couple holidaying in Cairns have had their trip take an unexpected turn, picking up a $1 million division one winning ticket in last night’s Gold Lotto draw.
The Queensland players held one of the three division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4112, drawn Monday 14 September 2021. Each division one entry won $1 million.
This morning, we called the winners, who were still reeling from their million-dollar discovery.
“We checked the ticket on The Lott app last night,” the winning man said.
“We couldn’t believe it. We thought it must be a mistake.
“Nothing like this has ever happened to us, so it felt like a dream.
“We called our kids to let them know and they thought we were joking, but we said, ‘I don’t think we are!’.
“We had a very restless night after that. We both had about an hour of sleep!
“It’s just amazing.”
When asked how they planned to enjoy their windfall, the delighted duo said they were still coming to terms with the news.
“Honestly, we have no idea what we will do,” the winning woman continued.
“We’d like to go and see a financial advisor before we make any big decisions.
“We know we will use it for our retirement, but we want to make sure we are wise with it.”
The pair, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their System 7 QuickPick entry at Spar Holloways Beach, 149-153 Holloways Beach Access Road, Holloways Beach.
Spar Holloways Beach operations manager Paul Drabble said the entire team was celebrating the division one win.
“It’s so exciting! We were blown away when we realised we’d made one of our customers a millionaire,” he said.
“We only took ownership of the store 12 weeks ago, so this is so amazing for us.
“Can you hear everyone in the background? That’s the team cheering! We are so happy and ready to celebrate.
“Hopefully, we have another division one win soon!”
