Selfless single mum shares $1 million X Lotto windfall
A single mum of two from Smithfield has cried tears of joy after discovering she scored a division one prize of $1 million in a recent Monday & Wednesday X Lotto.
The Adelaide winner held one of two division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw 3919, drawn Wednesday 6 November 2019. Each winner takes home the guaranteed division one prize of $1 million.
Sharing her joy with us this afternoon, the winner couldn’t contain her emotions when the life-changing news was confirmed.
“It’s just so amazing!” she said through happy tears.
“This ticket was a gift from my Mum who is with me right now. She is just crying because she is so happy.
“Whenever she buys an entry she always buys one for me as well because I’ve been doing it tough.
“I’m a single mum of two teenage daughters who are here as well. We are all hugging and crying.
“We will definitely be doing something to celebrate tonight!”
After discovering the news six days after the draw, the happy woman revealed she was oblivious to her windfall.
“I had absolutely no idea I had won anything!” she confessed.
“Mum just ran down to the shops and so she took the ticket with her to check it while she was there.
“She just called me in tears and said ‘you’d better come and pick me up. I’ve got something to tell you’.
“So I raced down there and that’s when they told us we had won.”
When asked how she planned to enjoy life as a newly-minted millionaire, the loving and generous mum thought of others first.
“I’ve always said that if I won the lotto, I would use it towards helping a cause close to my heart,” she said.
“I’ll look after myself and my family first but then I want to do something to help others too.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Munno Para Newsagency, Shop 17-19, Munno Para Shopping Centre, Main North Road, Smithfield.
Munno Para Newsagency manager Mary Coalter said she was thrilled her outlet had sold another division one winning entry.
“It’s amazing! We couldn’t believe we sold two division one winning entries in just four weeks!” she exclaimed.
“We are definitely hoping for a third to make it a hat-trick. We’ve seen a few more customers coming in and trying their luck. I think they are hoping they are our next division one winner.
“We are relieved to hear the winner has come forward to claim their prize.
“It’s created quite a buzz in store. We’ve had a lot of customers asking us if we’ve found the winner so I am excited I can share the good news from the rooftops.
“Congratulations to our winner! We wish her all the best with her prize!”
