The search is off: Townsville man comes forward to claim $1 million Wednesday Gold Lotto prize
One week after the draw, a Townsville man has checked his Wednesday Gold Lotto ticket to discover he’s spent the past week with no idea he’s a millionaire.
The North Queensland player held one of the three division one winning entries nationally in Monday and Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4049, drawn Wednesday 3 February 2021. He takes home a division one prize of $1 million.
Sharing his absolute shock with us this afternoon, the man explained his million-dollar prize had been on his kitchen bench this whole time.
“Wow,” he managed eventually.
“Umm wow!
“Honestly, I’m speechless. I don’t know what to say.
“I’ve only checked the ticket just now, it’s been sitting on the kitchen counter for the past week.
“I was heading to the shops, so I thought I’d check it before I left the house.
“I can’t believe it. I had to race to the newsagency after that and get them to check it over and over again.
“I’m lost for words, I don’t know what to say!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his life-changing win, the North Queenslander said he’d no longer be sweating the small stuff.
“I can live a normal and happy life, without stressing about the little things,” he said.
“Life will be a lot easier.
“It will really take the pressure off. It will be great!”
The division one winning entry was purchased at The Strand Newsagency, Shop 7, North Ward Shopping Centre, 39 Eyre Street, North Ward.
