Darwin man nearly walked away from $2.5 million TattsLotto win
A rural Darwin man has confessed he nearly walked away from the newsagency while trying to buy a TattsLotto ticket that scored him $2.5 million because it was busy and he was in a rush.
The happy winner held one of eight division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4139, drawn Saturday 20 March 2021. Each division one winning entry takes home $2.5 million.
Sharing his excitement with us this afternoon, the Top End man confessed he had been completely oblivious to his win.
“It’s unbelievable! I had no idea!” he exclaimed.
“It wasn’t until I checked my ticket at the newsagency a few moments ago that they told me I was a division one winner that they’d been looking for.
“It’s a bit surreal at the moment. It’s just unbelievable.
“You know, I nearly walked away from buying this ticket. It was busy in-store, and I was in a rush, but I thought, ‘bugger it, I’m here now. I’ll buy it.’.
“I just grabbed a QuickPick. I usually buy a 12 game, but this time I went bigger, and that’s what I won on. It must have been meant to be.”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his life-changing windfall, the NT’s newest multi-millionaire revealed he couldn’t wait to explore his own backyard.
“I’ll pay off a few bills and help friends and family first up,” he declared.
“I’ll be planning a holiday down the track. I’ll start with Australia and then go from there.
“I’ll be having a beer with my family tonight to celebrate.”
The winning entry was sold at Coolalinga Newsagency, Shop 3, Coolalinga Shopping Centre, 425 Stuart Highway, Coolalinga.
Coolalinga Newsagency owner Tanya Syphers said she was thrilled the winner had finally been united with their prize.
“We are so happy our winner has discovered he is a multi-millionaire!” she exclaimed.
“Congratulations to our winner! We wish him all the best with his prize!”
