Retirement plans looking up for Mareeba man with $2.5 million in his bank account
A Mareeba man is happily rewriting his retirement plans after becoming a multi-millionaire in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw.
The Far North Queenslander held one of the eight division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4139, drawn Saturday 20 March 2021.
Each entry takes home a division one prize worth $2.5 million.
“Thank you,” he said. “It feels pretty good!
“I checked my ticket on Sunday afternoon. I couldn’t believe I had all six winning numbers.
“What are the odds of that? I have been playing for a long time!”
When asked how he imagined life with $2.5 million in his bank account, the Mareeba resident said his retirement plans were looking up.
“It will come in handy,” he said.
“My wife and I are both retired so we will have plenty of time to enjoy it!”
The winning entry was purchased at Piagno’s News, 142 Byrnes Street, Mareeba. Piagno’s News owner Kirrily Mulla said she was excited to hear her outlet had sold a division one winning entry.
“I was so excited for our lucky customers and the buzz from seeing our outlet name on the list of winning outlets was fabulous!” she exclaimed.
“We have decorated the store with balloons and will be celebrating together with a morning tea.
“Our customers are very excited for us! They have been sending us messages on social media and coming into the store to congratulate us.
“We’ve sold six division one winning entries over the past 12 years. The last was in 2017.
“Here’s hoping our lucky streak will continue with many more wins in the future!
“Congratulations to our winner!”
