Best meeting ever: Wingfield factory workers score $1.2 million X Lotto win
A group of 11 factory workers from Wingfield are about to be called into a meeting they will never forget after their long-running syndicate scored them a division one prize worth over $1.2 million in the weekend’s X Lotto draw.
The winning syndicate held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in X Lotto draw 4053, drawn Saturday 23 May 2020. Each entry took home a division one prize of $1,232,163.59.
As well as winning the coveted division one prize, the syndicate’s marked System 7 entry also scored division three six times, bolstering their total prize to $1,238,977.19.
Speaking with us this morning, the syndicate leader confessed she was too nervous to tell her workmates until the win had been confirmed.
“I’m so nervous! I’m a wreck!” she exclaimed.
“I discovered the news early Sunday morning but haven’t told anyone yet. I just wanted to make sure it was real.
“We’ve been playing this syndicate for about 12 years now. Always with the same numbers.
“We all chose a few numbers ourselves, and then let the terminal choose the rest.
“This is going to change so many lives. There are a few of us who have been struggling a bit lately.
“I’m going to call a meeting right after we hang up and tell everyone the good news!”
When asked how she thought she would enjoy her share of the windfall, the happy winner said it would most likely be put towards her home loan.
“I’d say most of us will be making a big payment towards our mortgages,” she explained.
“There also might be a few holidays in there as well. We’ll just have to make sure we don’t all go at once!”
The winning 10-game marked System 7 entry was purchased at OTR Peterhead, 107-11 Victoria Road, Peterhead.
OTR Peterhead spokesperson Kim Wimshurst said the team was so excited to see one of their customers win.
“Our OTR team is thrilled to hear that one of our customers has won at our OTR stores,” she said.
“Congratulations from OTR to our winners! We wish them all the very best withtheir prize.”
