A generous Gawler woman is soon to hold the title of ‘world’s best mother, grandmother and great-grandmother’ after declaring she plans to share her $1.8 million X Lotto win with her beloved family.

The Barossa resident held one of the 11 division one winning entries nationally in Saturday X Lotto draw 4049, drawn Saturday 9 May 2020. Each division one winning entry takes home a prize of $1,818,181.82.

Sharing her joy with us, the happy winner revealed she initially thought she had missed out on the major prize by just one number.

“It’s amazing! Thank you very much!” she exclaimed.

“We were just sitting in the lounge room at home when we discovered we had won.

“My partner had just checked his ticket and told me he hadn’t won anything, so I thought I’d better check mine.

“We checked the numbers and I crossed off five. I said to my partner ‘I missed it by just one number!’.

“Thankfully, I decided to check it again and that’s when I saw I had all six numbers!

“It’s very surreal feeling but amazing!

“We went right out and bought some champagne and had a few drinks at home to celebrate!”

The regular player revealed she always played the same numbers on her X Lotto entries.

“I’ve been playing these numbers for about 20 years,” she explained.

“I picked them at random all those years ago and now they’ve finally come up!

“I’ll never forget these numbers now.”

When asked how she planned to enjoy her windfall, the generous woman said she could not wait to share it with her beloved family.

“I’m going to buy a house for me and my partner and then I’m going to share it with my family,” she announced.

“I’ve got children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren so they will all get some money to help them out.

“When I told them all I had won, they didn’t believe me. Once they realised it was true, we all started crying we were so happy.

“It was a great way to spend Mother’s Day!”

The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her 14-game marked entry at Northern News, Shop 24, Gawler Central Shopping Centre, 1 Cowan Street, Gawler.

Northern News owner Tom Lane said he was delighted to discover his outlet had sold a division one winning entry.

“This is our first division one winner since we took over the business nine months ago, so we are thrilled!” he exclaimed.

“We’ve decorated the store with balloons and posters, and we’ve been telling all of our customers we’ve sold a major prize.

“They are all very happy for the winner and hoping they’ll be our next division one winner!

“This win is great for the store and our staff as they work so hard to serve our customers. It will be great for them to know we’re an outlet that sells division one winning tickets.

“Congratulations to our winner! I really hope it helps her fulfil her dreams in life!”
