Adelaide mates to celebrate with champagne and fancy dinner after Saturday X Lotto win!
A pair of Adelaide mates are ready to celebrate by going out for a fancy dinner and drinking champagne after discovering they won division one in the weekend’s Saturday X Lotto draw.
The South Australian friends held one of the six division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 3999, drawn Saturday 16 November 2019. Each entry took home a division one prize of $659,502.54.
As well as winning the division one prize, the pair also won division two 6 times, division three 6 times and division four 15 times, boosting their total prize to $720,391.29.
Speaking with us this afternoon the private syndicate leader explained that the duo had been buying lottery tickets together for more than a decade.
“I buy lottery tickets with an old work mate. We’ve been buying tickets together for years and years,” he said.
“We alternate who buys the tickets every week and we always said that if one of us won, we’d share it with the other.
“Well this week was my week to buy the ticket.
“On Sunday I was sitting down reading the paper and thought I’d check the winning lottery numbers.
“I saw our numbers matched but I just couldn’t believe that we won division one.
“I double checked by scanning our ticket on the app on my phone.
“I was ecstatic!
“I called him as soon as I realised we won. I heard this big thud. He’d fell on the ground because he was so shocked!
“It is a lovely win and I am so glad I am sharing this prize with my mate.”
When asked how they planned to enjoy their prize, the syndicate leader admitted he knew exactly what he would do with his share.
“I am going to donate some of my prize, put some towards a holiday home and I will get a new car,” he said.
“We are going to celebrate with a nice dinner and a few drinks. I don’t like champagne, but I think for this occasion I might have some.”
The winning division one entry was sold at Erindale Papershop, Shop 4, 361 Kensington Road, Kensington Gardens.
Erindale Papershop owner Judith Yardley said she was thrilled to sell a division one winning entry to her customers.
“We are so happy for our winners,” she said.
“We wish them all the best with their prize.
“All of our customers are so happy for them and hope they’ll be next to win division one.”
