Brighter days ahead for Melton South father with $860,000 TattsLotto win
More than a week after the draw, a Melton South father has come forward to claim his $868,000
TattsLotto division one win after being surprised with the winning news at his local newsagency.
The Melburnian held one of the six division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4267 on Saturday 11 June, and takes home $868,300.08.
The winning entry was unregistered, which meant we had no way of contacting the winner to break the life-altering news and had to wait for the ticketholder to come forward.
Speaking with us, the victorious Victorian said he was rendered speechless by the exciting news.
“I’m in absolute disbelief. It’s crazy!” he exclaimed.
“I went back to the newsagency on the weekend to check my lottery tickets with my son, and the terminal said I’d won something, but I didn’t know how much as it just said ‘Congratulations’.
“I thought to myself, ‘Oh, it’s probably a small win’. But little did I know, it was a division one win!
“It’s such a wonderful moment that I’ll remember for the rest of my life, and to be able to share the moment with my son is special.
“I’ve been playing for 20 years, and I’ve never expected to win big. Wow!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his bounty, the Melbourne winner said he already had a few ideas in mind.
“I’m going to pay off my house mortgage and renovate some areas of the house!” he shared.
“I’ll put the rest towards my retirement and have it there as a little nest egg.
“We’ll definitely celebrate the win with my son and his partner on the weekend with a lovely dinner.”
His winning entry was purchased at Melton Station Lotto, Shop 8, Station Square Shopping Centre, 11-25 Station Street, Melton South.
