One Castle Hill family’s decision to scrap Secret Santa presents and shout themselves an entry in Saturday Lotto’s $30 Million Megadraw has paid dividends, with the private syndicate taking home more than $1.4 million. 

The happy family held one of the 21 division one winning entries in last weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw 3803 on 30 December 2017.  Each took home a division one prize of $1,428,571.43. 

Speaking to a NSW Lotteries official this morning, the syndicate leader and family patriarch recounted the moment he discovered their “magic” win. 

“On Sunday morning, I asked my wife to read out the numbers.  We were just going through and there they were!  My wife jumped up and down and almost knocked me off the chair!” he said. 

“I tried to stay calm and collected. 

“It’s just magic!” 

The ecstatic dad explained the winning entry was a private syndicate with their adult children. 

“We had decided we were over the Secret Santa thing and buying presents for each other each year and scratching our heads wondering what to buy,” he said. 

“So we decided we’d go into a System 11 Lotto entry and up it sprung! “When we told our children they thought we’d been getting onto the New Year’s cheer a little early,” he laughed. 

“It’s come in very handy for everyone - with paying off mortgages, travel and all of the above being planned.” 

The family, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased its marked winning System 11 entry from Nextra Castle Towers, Shop 268, Level 2, Castle Towers, Castle Hill. 

Nextra Castle Towers owner Ling Xue said the outlet was still celebrating one of its customers taking home a division one winning entry. 

“It’s very exciting!  We’re all thrilled for our customer.  It’s our second division one winning entry during the past decade,” she said. 

“Everyone’s been coming in wondering if the winner had been found.  We’re so pleased they’ve been united with their prize!” 

Throughout Australia, there were 21 entries that won a division one prize of $1.428 million in the $30 Million Megadraw (draw 3803) on Saturday 30 December 2017. 

Four of the division one winning entries were purchased in Queensland, three from New South Wales, five from Victoria, two from Tasmania, two from South Australia, and five from Western Australia. 

Along with the division one winning entry from Castle Hill, the other New South Wales entries were purchased from Merrylands and online. 

The six winning numbers in the $30 Million Megadraw (draw 3803) on Saturday 30 December, 2017 were 6, 30, 9, 35, 27 and 37, while the supplementary numbers were 4 and 14. 

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 229 so far this calendar year, including 74 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
