Launceston woman’s entry of family birthdates and anniversaries wins TattsLotto
A Launceston woman’s holiday has been happily interrupted by the news she’s become a newly-minted multi-millionaire.
The Tasmanian was oblivious to her division one win until we made contact.
“No way!” she screamed!
“No! No! No! Are you for real?
“What’s the bottom line? Two million dollars?
“Oh my God! We can do a lot with that. I’ll be helping my family with that. Other than that, I just can think straight right now.
“That’s just so wonderful. Thank you for interrupting my holiday with that!
“I can’t tell you how long I’ve been playing. Maybe 20 years. I play the same numbers – some birthdates and anniversaries and the rest I just made up.
“You’ve made my day!”
Her winning marked 15-game entry was purchased at Kings Meadows News & Lotto, 116 Hobart Road, Kings Meadows.
Kings Meadows News & Lotto owner Jeff Dolbey said the weekend win marked his outlet’s 25th division one winning entry during the past 23 years.
“It’s just fantastic! We average about one a year,” he said.
“This is just what everyone needs to lift their spirits. Times have been tough but when there’s a win, it’s great news for the whole community.
“It’s a nice amount too – $2 million is nothing to sneeze at!
“We wish our winner all the very best with their prize.”
Thirty Hobart players share $2.1 million TattsLotto prize
A 30-strong syndicate from Hobart scored Tasmania’s second TattsLotto division one win from the weekend’s draw.
In addition to winning division one, the syndicate’s 50-game System 7 entry also scored division three 6 times and division six 8 times, bolstering the group’s total prize to $2,147,718.45.
Each syndicate member won a share worth $71,609.59.
However, as some syndicate members held unregistered entries, they may have yet to discover they’re part of this winning group.
We're urging Hobart players to check their TattsLotto tickets as soon as possible.
Shares into the store syndicate were purchased at Eastlands Lotto, Shop G8, Eastlands Shopping Centre, Bligh Street, Rosny Park.
Eastlands Lotto owner Maree Aitchison said she would be celebrating the win in her outlet this week.
“At first, when I heard our syndicate had won, I couldn’t believe it. But then I was just so excited, especially knowing it was a syndicate so it means lots more happy people,” she said.
“We are just so excited to help our customers achieve a part of their hopes and dreams
“We’ve had this outlet just on three and a half years and this is our first division one prize. Our customers often say that it’s time for a division one prize here, and now here it is.
“We often say to our customers ‘wouldn’t it be nice’ and now this means so much more. Roll on another division one so we can help more people.
“It has been such a hard time for everyone, so it is great to see something wonderful happen for people that will have a positive impact not just on them but on their local communities.”
