A young Engadine man has received his ‘most rewarding birthday present yet’ after the Saturday Lotto ticket he received as a birthday gift yielded him a division one prize of $1.2 million.

The New South Wales player held one of the five division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Lotto draw 4093 on Saturday 10 October 2020. Each entry won a division one prize of $1,292,740.18.

Sharing his excitement with us this morning, the winner recounted how he discovered the life-changing news.

“Thank you! It’s a pretty good feeling knowing I’m about to become a millionaire!” he laughed.

“I received the ticket as part of a gift pack for my birthday from my dad and step-mum.

“It’s the most rewarding birthday gift I’ve ever received!

“I hadn’t checked it yet and didn’t even know there was a winner from Engadine until they called me yesterday and reminded me to check it.

“They were pretty desperate to find out if they bought me the winning ticket!

“I planned to check it at the newsagency this morning, but I was thinking about it all night and couldn’t sleep.

“At about one o’clock this morning it got the better of me, and I checked it online, and that’s when I realised I had won!

“I haven’t slept a wink since but it’s a pretty good reason not to get any sleep!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy life as a newly-minted millionaire, the happy winner declared he had his sights set on a new set of wheels.

“The first thing I am going to do is get myself a car that works!” he laughed.

“I don’t know what type I’ll buy just yet, but anything will be better than the bomb I’ve got now.

“I’ll use some to pay off some debts and then I’ll have a think about the rest!”

The winning ticket was purchased at Engadine Central Newsagency, Shop 7-8 Engadine Central Shopping Centre, 1031 Old Princes Highway, Engadine.

Engadine Central Newsagency owner Hui Shen said she was over the moon her outlet had sold a division one winning entry. “

We’ve been celebrating since we found out we’d sold a division one winning entry!” she exclaimed.

“We’ve decorated our store and have been telling all of our customers about the win.

“This is the second division one winning entry we’ve ever sold. The last was in 2017.

“Congratulations and happy birthday to our winner! We hope he enjoys it as best as he can during these tough times.”
