Glen Waverley retiree to use $5.6 million TattsLotto prize to help disadvantaged children
A generous Glen Waverley retiree who scooped the entire $5.6 division one prize pool in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw has declared she’d like to to help children in need.
The Victorian woman held the only division one winning entry in TattsLotto draw 4227 on Saturday 22 January 2022. Her total prize was $5,660,897.24.
“Oh my god! I’ve barely slept,” the winner laughed when we confirmed her win.
“I’ve got the app on my phone, and on Saturday night, I checked my ticket.
“I tell you, I couldn’t believe it. I told my husband, ‘I’m not sure why all the numbers are lit up in a row’. Then I realised.
“I’ve used these numbers for nearly 50 years! I’m not sure why I picked them, but I’m glad I did.
“It’s hard to get your head around. And to be the only division one winner in the draw… incredible!
“I don’t normally, but I had a second scotch on Saturday night to celebrate!”
The regular TattsLotto player said she had some ideas on how best to use her prize.
“It’s really starting to sink in now. Before, I didn’t know if it was real or not. I told my husband, ‘I’m not doing anything until I get the call’,” she shared.
“I’ll certainly get some financial advice on how best to invest it.
“If not for COVID, we would have done some travel in recent years to countries we haven’t been to before. So that’s definitely back on again.
“I’d also like to help the needy – especially disadvantaged children. There’s a number of charities that are close to my heart that I want to support.”
Her winning marked 8-game entry was purchased at The Glen Lotto, The Glen Centro, 235 Springvale Road, Glen Waverley.
The Glen Lotto owner Desmond Xu said he was celebrating his outlet’s first division one win.
“I was super excited to see we’d sold the big one and also so surprised that there was only one division one winner in the draw. It’s incredible,” he said.
“Recently, we’ve sold a few division two and division three winning entries so I hoped we’d work our way up to division one.
“Our customers are so happy for this lucky winner, especially during this challenging time.
“I hope she enjoys this life-changing prize and we can’t wait for the next big win.”
