“I’m glad I didn’t put it through the wash!”: Bentleigh East man pockets $730,000 TattsLotto win
A Bentleigh East man has been walking around for more than 31 days, oblivious to the fact that he had a $730,000 TattsLotto winning ticket in his jacket pocket.
The Melburnian man held one of the seven division one winning entries across Australia in TattsLotto draw 4269 on 18 June 2022. Each entry won a division one prize of $731,699.38.
The winning entry was unregistered, which means we had no way of contacting the winner to break the life-altering news and had to wait for the ticketholder to come forward.
When we called the merry man to confirm his win, he relayed how the momentous winning moment came about.
“I’m blown away! I couldn’t sleep at all last night,” he confessed.
“I had absolutely no idea that I’d won $730,000 – it’s life-changing. I walked into the local newsagency to check the ticket, and he told me I’d won division one!
“The winning ticket was recurring for three weeks, so I’d put it in my jacket pocket and had forgotten about it.
“It’s been sitting in my pocket the entire time. I’m glad I didn’t put it through the wash!
“No one ever expects to win the lottery, and when it does happen out of nowhere, it feels awesome.”
With $730,000 about to land in his bank account, he shared he would treat himself and his wife to an overdue overseas holiday.
“My wife and I are itching to go on a holiday, especially after the pandemic,” he shared.
“We can’t wait!”
His winning entry was purchased at East Boundary Road Lotto, 1/251 East Boundary Road, Bentleigh East.
East Boundary Road Lotto owners Thao Bui and Andy Tran said they’re ecstatic to have sold a division one winning entry in TattsLotto.
“We still can’t believe we’ve sold a division one winning entry!” said Thao.
“We’ve celebrated the winning news with our local community and lovely customers.
“Congratulations to the winner, and we wish them all the best with their $730,000 win!”
