Last-minute Saturday Gold Lotto entry just the ticket to $685,000 windfall for Albany Creek man
An Albany Creek man in his 40s is looking forward to jetting overseas with his wife to celebrate his wedding anniversary after scoring more than $685,000 in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw.
The Moreton Bay Region resident held one of the eight division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4339, drawn Saturday 18 February 2023. Each division one winning entry won $685,236.47.
“I’m feeling great this morning!” the man cheered when we confirmed his prize.
“I was just outside having a coffee and thought I’d check my ticket. To be honest, I did a double-take. I said to my wife, ‘I think I’ve won some money’.
“I think it’s the most quiet I’ve ever been. I didn’t have any words.
“It’s absolutely fantastic.
“I play every couple of weeks, and I was just sitting on the couch on Saturday night watching the news and I thought I’d grab a ticket. It was 30 minutes before the draw’s close.
“Somehow, I got the right ticket!”
The winning Queenslander shared he’d love to take his wife away overseas to celebrate their anniversary.
“I dare say we’ll definitely be flying business class! We’re still deciding on location, but we have more options now!” he added.
The man’s winning 18-game QuickPick entry was purchased online at thelott.com – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
