Leppington woman’s fridge door yields $2 million Saturday Lotto ticket
A Leppington woman became a multi-millionaire last month but was completely unaware of her new-found fortune until she checked the Saturday Lotto ticket that had been stuck on her fridge door.
The Sydney resident held one of the 15 division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4375, drawn Saturday 24 June 2023. Each entry took home $2 million.
Speaking with us, the ecstatic mum explained how she discovered her life-changing win.
“Oh my god! I was just going to the shops, and I thought I’d check this ticket. It had been a while,” she said.
“When they scanned it, they just said I needed to call The Lott as soon as possible.
“I haven’t stopped sweating. I’m just going around my house thinking, ‘what do I do, what do I do’.
“I don’t know what to do! I’m dying right now. I’m just so excited! I feel sick!
“This ticket has been on our fridge the whole time! I’m the one who bought the ticket from Leppington Newsagency.
“I love this little newsagency. Every time I shop there, I just kept thinking, ‘you’re going to make me a winner!’. And they have! I can’t believe it!”
Amid the excitement of the multi-million-dollar revelation, the loving mum already had clear priorities for her prize.
“This will probably go straight onto the mortgage because that means we can then focus on our children and setting them up and giving them opportunities,” she said.
“I just want our children to grow up safe and happy and this just puts everything into perspective.
“For us, being able to pay off the mortgage is huge. I just can’t picture that we can just pay off the mortgage. It would have taken us such a long time. It will be such a relief.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Leppington Newsagency, Shop 6, 1469 Camden Valley Way, Leppington.
Leppington Newsagency owners Pradeep and Mini Ahluwalia said they were thrilled their winning customer had been united with her prize.
“Congratulations and best wishes to our winner for their mega win!” Pradeep said.
“In the past two years, we have sold five division one or major jackpot prizes.
“We hope this trend will continue for all our loyal customers!”
