Modbury man declares his $549,000 X Lotto win a “blessing” from his late father
A Modbury man believes his $540,000 X Lotto division one win is a blessing from above after discovering the news on his late father’s birthday, whose numbers he used to mark his entry.
The South Australian held one of 11 division one winning entries nationally in Saturday X Lotto draw 4105, drawn Saturday 21 November 2020. Each entry takes home a division one prize of $549,405.38.
When we broke the news to the man this morning, he couldn’t contain his disbelief.
“You’re joking! You’re kidding! What?!” he exclaimed.
“Thank you so much! God bless you! Thank you!
“Oh, this is just so overwhelming. I can’t believe it.
“I’ve been playing those numbers for nine years now. They were my late father’s numbers and some of my numbers combined.
“He passed away a few years ago now and it’s his birthday today.
“It’s a blessing from him!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his X Lotto windfall, the thrilled winner revealed it had come at the perfect time for him.
“I was recently made redundant because of the pandemic so I’m out of work at the moment and it’s been pretty hard,” he explained.
“This will be able to help me along until I find another job. Once I’ve found work I’ll use the rest towards a house.
“I’ve been renting for the past 10 years so it will be a great feeling to have a place of my own.”
The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning 18-game marked entry at Plaza Newsagency, Shops 22 & 23 Tea Tree Plaza, 976 North East Road, Modbury.
Plaza Newsagency owner Ming Song said he was thrilled to have sold another division one winning entry.
“What great timing for one of our customers to take home a division one prize!” he exclaimed.
“Especially since we have all just been in lockdown, it’s great to have some good news to share.
“The last division one winning entry we sold was about 12 months ago so we are thrilled to have sold another one again so soon.
“Congratulations to our winner! We wish him all the best with his prize!”
