Morphett Vale grandmother ‘wobbly at the knees’ after $2.7 million X Lotto win
A Morphett Vale woman in her 80s has confessed to feeling ‘wobbly all over’ after discovering she is now a multi-millionaire from winning division one in the weekend’s Saturday X Lotto Megadraw.
The southern Adelaide winner held one of the eleven division one winning entries nationally in Saturday X Lotto draw 4011, drawn Saturday 28 December 2019. Each entry scored a division one prize $2,727,272.73.
Sharing her joy with us this afternoon, the estatic winner couldn’t contain her initial disbelief at the life-changing news.
“Really? Oh my god. I’ve gone all funny. My legs are all wobbly so it’s a good job I am sitting down!” she exclaimed.
“Wow! I’ve been playing for 25 years and I never thought I’d get this phone call.
“The most I’ve ever won is division three or four.
“I just can’t believe it. If it was April the first, I wouldn’t believe it.
“Are you sure one of my kids haven’t put you up to this?
“I can’t believe this! Can you tell me again how I’ve much I’ve won. All I heard was two million dollars and I didn’t listen to the rest.
“Wow. That’s a lot of money! Oh my goodness. Thank you so much!
“I’m all shaky to be honest! My stomach is rumbly with butterflies and I’m shaking!
“You’ve made my day! I’m very happy!”
The regular player recounted how she came to mark the numbers on her winning entry.
“I’ve been playing the same numbers for about 15 years. They are just random numbers my son picked years ago,” she explained.
“He decided to stop playing the ticket so I told him I’d take them over and keep them going.
“I don’t think he’ll believe me when I tell him those numbers have won.”
When asked how she planned to enjoy life as a multi-millionaire the generous grandmother said she would help her family first.
“I’ll share it with the kids!” she declared immediately.
“Not that they are kids anymore, but they have kids of their own now.
“With that amount of money, I’ll be able to pay off all their mortgages. No more worries for them!
“I’ll give some to charity too. I love guide dogs so I will give them some money as well.
“I’ll probably spend some on myself too! Not sure how just yet!
“I might wait until I can get all the kids together and we can all celebrate the win together!”
The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her 12-game marked entry at Colonnades Newsagency, Colonnades Shopping Centre, 54 Beach Road, Noarlunga Centre.
Colonnades Newsagency owner Terry von Bertouch said he was ecstatic to have finally sold a division one winning entry at his outlet.
“We have never sold one before! We have been open for around 30 years and have just relocated into a brand new store so this was great news to finish off the year!
We hope this is a sign of more good things to come in our new outlet” he said.
“We were delighted to hear the news. We will be celebrating by telling our customers we sold a division one winning ticket, and decorating with balloons and posters to bring attention to our lucky outlet.
“We’re sending a big congratulations to our customer and we hope they really enjoy their win.”
