Pagewood woman gifts herself $2.8 million Lotto win for 60th birthday
A Pagewood woman who treated herself to a Saturday Lotto ticket for her 60th birthday has been left “wobbly at the knees” at the revelation she won more than $2.8 million in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.
The southern Sydney player held one of the seven division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto Superdraw 3977 on Saturday 31 August 2019, with each entry taking home a division one prize of $2,857,142.86.
The winner was oblivious to her good fortune until she decided to check her entry late yesterday. Speaking to us to confirm her new multi-millionaire status, the Sydney grandmother admitted the afternoon surprise had left her shaking.
“I just can’t believe it,” she cried joyfully.
“I just walked in to the store to check my ticket now. I’m standing here and a bit wobbly at the knees.
“I bought this ticket for my 60th birthday – a little gift to myself. It’s the best birthday gift I’ve ever received!”
While she still planned to continue working this week, the winner confessed an early retirement beckoned.
“It won’t be long before I retire. Once that money is in my bank account, I’m gone!” she laughed.
“I’d also like to go to Hawaii but this time fly first class!”
The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased winning entry at Eastgardens Newsagency, Shops 109-110 Westfield Shoppingtown, 152 Bunnerong Road, Pagewood.
Eastgardens Newsagency owner Charlie Shi said it was fantastic to sell a division one winning entry in Saturday Lotto’s Superdraw.
“It’s great to know we’ve made one of our customers $2.8 million richer,” he said.
“We were very excited when we discovered we’d sold this prize.
“We hope she enjoys her win!”
