Generous Port Augusta man to gift most of $1.5 million X Lotto win to others
A generous Port Augusta man has declared he will donate or give away most of the $1.5 million division one prize he scored in the weekend’s Saturday X Lotto Megadraw.
The humble winner held one of the 19 division one winning entries nationally in Saturday X Lotto draw 4117, drawn Saturday 2 January 2021. Each entry takes home a division one prize worth $1,578,947.37.
Sharing his joy with us this morning, the winner revealed he’d discovered the exciting news late yesterday evening.
“Thank you very much! I’ve been awake all night waiting to find out if it was real!” he exclaimed.
"I checked my ticket yesterday evening but couldn’t believe it. I needed to hear you confirm it before I got too excited. It’s a relief to know it’s true!
“I play every week, but I’ve never won anything like this before! I can’t believe it!
“My old phone number was registered on my card so you wouldn’t have been able to call me.
“I’m glad I checked my ticket!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his windfall, the charitable man admitted he’d decided to donate to some causes close to his heart.
“I’ve still got to sort it all out in my head now I know it’s real, but I’ll definitely be donating some to charity,” he explained.
“I want to give some to the Royal Flying Doctors because they are such a great service and everyone needs a good doctor.
“I’ll give some to the local hospitals and some to family.
“Don’t worry, though! I’ll keep some for myself too!”
The winning entry was purchased at Orana Lotto & Newsagency, Shops C & D Wharflands Plaza, 11 Tassie Street, Port Augusta.
