Pyrmont man spends a week calculating next move with $1.1 million Saturday Lotto bounty
More than a week after the winning numbers were drawn, a Pyrmont man has claimed his $1.1 million Saturday Lotto prize, admitting he’d spent the time digesting the life-changing news.
The mystery inner-city Sydney player held one of the five division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4263, drawn Saturday 28 May 2022. Each division one winning entry scored $1,114,916.27.
“I’ve known since last Sunday, the day after the draw,” the winner shared when speaking to us.
“I usually check my ticket on a Sunday morning on the app.
“I’ve been playing for a long time. I use the same numbers – they’re not special, I just picked them and kept using them. Sometimes I get a few small wins, but this is certainly the biggest.
“In the beginning, I thought I’d won $1,100, but I double-checked and saw it was really $1.1 million!
“It’s pretty good! It’s a pretty good feeling!”
“I was just taking my time before coming and claiming the prize. I needed time to let it sink in. Since last week, I’ve been doing quite a bit of calculation about what I’ll do with the prize.
“I had a really tough time about two years ago, so this is just that extra boost I need. I’d love to give some to family and friends and also buy an investment property.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Central Pyrmont Newsagency, 160 Harris Street, Pyrmont.
Central Pyrmont Newsagency owner Robert Tang said he was still celebrating selling a division one winning entry.
“The win created such a buzz in our community, and many customers have been excitedly checking their Saturday Lotto tickets!” he said.
“It’s such a memorable occasion when we sell a division one winning ticket, and we hope we sell many more!
“Congratulations to the winner and we hope you enjoy your prize!”
